How to be yourself without being a jerk.

Bite size thoughts for people on the go.

It’s one thing to feel free to be who we are. It’s another thing entirely to act on whatever impulse catches our attention at the time. That’s called petulance.

I’m tired of the perspective that states, “people should feel entitled to do what they want, how they want, when they want, to whom they want because “it’s part of living their truth.”

Etiquette and social graces are in place for a reason, and it’s unethical to think we can toss them aside like toddlers shouting about the injustices of nap time.

So much angst and suffering in this world would cease if we learned what it truly meant to “be ourselves” instead of using this sage advice to justify bad behavior.

By all means, be yourself. But recognize that being yourself has nothing to do with throwing tantrums.
